Construction Training and Certification

Skills for Today is offering the opportunity to gain certifications in masonry, electrical, carpentry, and plumbing through the National Center for Construction Education and Research, commonly referred to by the acronym NCCER. The Core training program is 3.5 weeks where participants will learn basic safety, proper use of hand and power tools, construction drawing, material handling and more.
NCCER Level 1 Certification

Upon successful completion of the Core training and certifications, Skills for Today can help you specialize your training by offering a limited number of additional training courses specific to plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and electrical. The NCCER Level 1 training is three months in length and participants who successfully complete the program receive an NCCER Level 1 Certification.
Home Health Aide Certification

Skills for Today is offering the opportunity for Crucian residents to gain certifications in the ever-needed healthcare industry. Through the program eligible applicants can acquire a Home Health Aide certification. The Home Health Aide course requires 75 hours of classroom training where applicants are trained to become certified caregivers that can provide in-home care and in-facility care to patients and able-challenged individuals.
Personal Care Aide Certification

Skills for Today is offering the opportunity for Crucian residents to gain a Personal Care Aid certification in the ever-needed healthcare industry. The Personal Care Aide course is a 40-hour training program where applicants learn to provide non-medical assistance to patients in the comfort of their own home.

OUR MINI BIO
The Department of Labor’s Skills for Today workforce development program was born of necessity and aims to invest in the future of U.S. Virgin Islands residents. The Territory’s tourism reliant economy experienced vast infrastructure destruction caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, which heavily impacted the tourism sector. The Government of the Virgin Islands now seeks to pivot and diversify its workforce.
